The existence of the Tionghoa - Indonesia Cultural Park in TMII reaffirms TMII as a national cultural and art laboratory besides obviously showing that the people of Indonesia are a multi - ethnical and multi - racial nation with a variety of art and culture.
The development of the Pavilion area is based on harmony and balance, the oldest philosophy believed by the Chinese community, by combining the "Yin" (im) and the "Yang" (kang) elements, the hard element and the gentle element; for example : if there is daylight there must be night, if there is land there must be sea, if there is water there must be fire and so on. That's why this park consists of land and an artificial lagoon at the back section.
A pair of pillars of the gateway, the symbol of masculine and feminine is the first mark of the group of the park. In front of the gateway is a pair of "kilin" statues, an animal resembling a lion believed to be the pet of the Gods, while behind the "kilin", right in the center of the yard there is a round black granite stone as an image of the globe. The three ton heavy stone is supported by a cantilever all at once as a pipe supplied with high pressure stream of water to turn the granite globe in the direction of rotation according to the "fengsui".
In the future, the Pavilion will be completed with an imitation of one of the ancient Chinese - style building, the "Chandra Naya", the original of which is located at the Gajah Mada street in Central Jakarta; a seven-storey "pagoda"; a museum containing various Chinese historical-cultural relics in Indonesia; a small Chinese settlement complete with the specific features of the "Pecinan Village" including the red and golden yellow colours which dominate almost the entire area of the Pavilion. Visitors can buy souvenirs, little things, food up to typical Chinese herbal medicine.
On certain occasions and "Imlek" (Chinese New Year), the Pavilion presents specific Chinese cultural performances among others the "Barongsai", "Liong", "Wushu" and other art performances.
