Houston Lake Mining is an advanced mining exploration company that is actively exploring for gold, platinum group elements and rare metals in northwestern Ontario, Canada. Houston Lake’s principal short term objective is to become a gold producer by surface mining several of the eight properties comprising its West Cedartree project near Kenora. Houston Lake’s platinum group metals project is the Tib Lake property near Thunder Bay and Pakeagama, its rare metals project, is near Red Lake.
Details of the Pakeagama Project:
•Location: Near Red Lake, Ontario.
•Land position: 256 hectares (632 acres).
•Ownership: 100%.
•Discovered in mid-1990s by Ontario government geologists.
•Property hosts rare metals: tantalum, rubidium, cesium, lithium.
•Located near mine at Tanco, Manitoba – one of richest rare metal mines in the world.
•Property geology: Pegmatite size expands to over 280 m (918 feet) in strike length open in both directions. Pegmatite is exposed for width of up to 125 m (410 ft). Mineralization system may extend for up to 610 m (2,000 ft) along strike to a 0.07% tantalum oxide occurrence on shore of Pakeagama Lake. The Pakeagama Lake pegmatite is a large, undeformed, steeply dipping, strongly zoned pegmatite mass; second-largest complex petalite subtype pegmatite in Ontario.
•Property combination of large size, internal zonation & high rare metal content makes its pegmatite an important global exploration target for rare metals.
•Exploration: line cutting, geophysics, geological mapping, stripping, channel sampling.
•Channel sampling of 11 m wide Northern Wall Zone in returned:
◦1.21% lithium oxide
◦222 g/t tantalum oxide
◦0.53% rubidium oxide
◦958 g/t cesium oxide
◦120 g/t tin
◦107.0 g/t niobium oxide
◦35.8 g/t thallium
◦56 g/t gallium
◦8.1 g/t germanium
•Core Zone returned 13.9 m grading 4.62% lithium oxide in channel sampling.
