Peabody Energy's North Antelope Rochelle Mine is the most productive coal mine in the United States, producing 91,523,280 short tons of coal during 2007. This is a combination of the Rochelle and North Antelope mines, which previously had been separate operations.

The previous title holder of America's most productive mine is Arch Coal's Black Thunder, located north of North Antelope Rochelle. Arch Coal is in the process of acquiring the neighboring Jacobs Ranch mine, and the resulting Black Thunder / Jacobs Ranch consolidation will surpass North Antelope Rochelle in production.
