Trematon Castle

Originally built as a motte-and-bailey castle soon after the Conquest in 1066, it became neglected in the mid 14th century and was in ruins by 16th century. There are the remains of a 12th century shell keep and the gatehouse, rebuilt in the 13th century, is substantially intact.
