"The Compound" is a 12-square-mile residential development that was started in the 1980s by General Development Corporation. Only a few homes were built, although miles of roads were created, before the developer went bankrupt in 1991. Many of the roads are unmarked and there are no stop signs, so it is advisable to drive with caution in this area. Despite the sparse population of the area, the police patrol it; some areas are closed off due to illegal activity like drag racing, drug use, and teen partying.
