This former airfield was constructed in 1943 to support naval aviation training. It was closed as an airfield in the mid 1950s. Malabar is still under control of Patrick Air Force Base, which uses the site for training activities.

  • is this propert up for sale i was driving by the other day anseen men taking down all the towers r they making a new housing complex ?????
  • From what I heard, and my house butts up against this base, that they have another 10 years on the property then will decide what to do. I hope and think we should get first take on the property. I think a great huge park would be great. There is a lot of wild life on that land, I don't know what they'd do with the deer, bore, foxes, etc. on the property.
  • Or maybe a FEMA camp by now?
  • I'm with you on that one Glen... What are they training for in there? Just 2 weeks ago my husband and I saw a herd of military all-terrain white vehicles driving along the fence on Emerson at high speeds and then turn down where the canal is and disappear back into the woods. I had never seen anyone come in or out of the until then. When we first moved here 3 years ago we tried to drive in but were turned around at the gate. I am so curious!
  • I mean Minton
  • I'll be moving up there soon. Why? Fort Lauderdale Airport's new south runway, planes are directly over my ocean access house, so low you can see people on the planes. The noise and fumes are devastating, as well as property devaluation. Their lies were and are endless. Find out! You are hopeless when it comes to the FAA. They can and will do what ever they want. Beware, find out, I wouldn't wish this hell on anyone.
