In 1871 A.I. Mamontov bought the property that today is Leontevsky Pereulok 5 and 7.

In 1900 Savva Morozov (1852-1905) bought and refurbished this mid 18th century house (left side) at Leontevsky Pereulok, 7 specifically to be the Museum of Folk Art. Some of the neo-Russian facade changes from that time includes the porch, steep roof and relief decoration. Today there is a small museum of matrioshka, nesting dolls as well as a gift shop.
