Shevchenkivskyi Raion (Shevchenko district) is one of seven districts of Zaporizhzhia, the biggest one in the city.
It was founded in 1962 by detaching from Zhovtnevyi Rayon.
The district has the name of Taras Shevchenko, known also as Kobzar (kobzars are bards in Ukrainian culture) – a famous Ukrainian poet, writer, artist, public and political figure, as well as folklorist and ethnographer.
