Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel, a German philosopher, lived here from January 1817 till September 1818. During that time, he worked on his Encyclopedia of the Philosophical Sciences (Encyclopädie der philosophischen Wissenschaften im Grundrisse) that describes the pattern of the Idea as manifesting itself in dialectical reasoning.
