Plandome LIRR Station (Plandome, New York)

USA / New York / Plandome / Plandome, New York
 train station, postmodern (architecture)

Station stop on the Long Island Rail Road's Port Washington Branch. Station house first built 1909 by the Plandome Land Co., with small waiting room and post office branch on the second floor at platform level. The original 1898 trackage was raised from grade level in 1913, as much of the line eventually was, and the original 1913 bridge still stands over Stonytown Road.

The station suffered a serious fire in early 1987, set by vandals. Reopened in 1990, with the Plandome Post Office branch now occupying the ground level. The new building was designed by Frank J. Capone, Architect.

  • Some people claim the Plandome Post Office is there too. Any confirmation of this?
