LIRR - Long Island Rail Road, train station

Mets–Willets Point (formerly Shea Stadium) is a seasonal-use station on the Long Island Rail Road's Port Washington Branch. The station is used only during New York Mets home games at Citi Field, during the U.S. Open tennis tournament at the USTA National Tennis Center, and in emergencies. The station, first called 'World's Fair' opened for the 1939 New York World's Fair, which included a modernist covered ramp above the tracks. Between 1946 and 1952, the station was known as 'United Nations', serving the temporary UN in Queens, the 1939 glass covering now removed.

The name changed back to 'World's Fair' from 1952-1966, and was expanded for the 1964 New York World's Fair to a design by Michael Radoslovich, and a ramp added connecting Flushing Meadows–Corona Park to the new Shea Stadium which operated from 1966-2008.
