At 1,255 acres, Flushing Meadows Corona Park, is the largest park in Queens and one of the largest parks in New York City. Built on a landfill under New York City Parks Commissioner, Robert Moses, the property was transformed into an extensive park, and served as home to the World's Fair in 1939 and 1964. Later the park would become home to Major League Baseball's, New York Mets, as well as the United States Tennis Associations annual U.S. Open Tennis championship.
