Port Washington Station is the terminus, the end of the line on the LIRR's Port Washington Branch. The station was recommended to LIRR President Austin Corbin by a group of residents in 1895, after a failed attempt to extend the branch from Great Neck to Roslyn in 1882. The station was completed in 1898, the same year the Manhasset viaduct was completed, allowing the newly extended line to traverse Manhasset Bay valley. Line was electrified in 1913, the station was remodeled in 1930, and again in 1998 upon it's 100th Anniversary. Their are eight tracks in the train yard for platforming and storage. The branch from Woodside east, was at grade until 1913, when most stations were raised or lowered. The main station house was designed by V.F. Seyfried in 1898 with alterations in 1930.
