Discovered on April 18, 1907 by Bert Shivley trying to round up his lost burros. He picked up a rock to throw at one of them and saw gold in it. The mine was worked off and on into the 1970s. The site was heavily vandalized in 1977. The mindat link has a detailed write-up on the mine's history.
