Residence designed c. 1926 in the French Manorial style by Kimball & Husted (Roger H. Bullard?) for Henry Eugene Coe, Jr {financier}. In addition to being a stockbroker, Coe served as director of Niagara Fire Insurance Co., Improved New York Properties Corp., and Dolphin Jute Mills. He also served as director of the Philharmonic Society of New York City and was a trustee of the Village of Oyster Bay Cove. Coe's grandfather, John Taylor Johnston, was a founder and first president of the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

His wife was the daughter of Dr. Walter Belknap and Mrs. Helen Jennings James and resided at "Eagle's Beak" in Cold Spring Harbor. Her sister Helen married Henry Hill Anderson, II and resided at "Handyhill" in Roslyn Estates and "Handyhill" II in Cove Neck. Her brother Oliver B. James, Jr. resided at "Rocky Point" in Laurel Hollow.
