Diffenbaugh is named after Guy Linton Diffenbaugh, a dean of the Arts and Sciences Department of the then-Florida State College for Women. The south part is a part of the original building that was constructed in 1922. Diffenbaugh got an extension and a renovation in 1950. The entrance still retains the gothic arch entrance of the original building, though.

  • In its current manifestation, its hallways on each floor are painted a medium pastel color. This lends the ambiance of a 1970's hospital to the corridors.I think they pretty seamlessly joined the old part of the building to the new when the front of the building was rebuilt. I think this was after a fire. But the old arch mentioned above is actually set into a modern looking front, giving a unique architectural look, with sharp lines and glass dominating, and the arch a Gothic style throwback.
