abandoned / shut down, interesting place
COPIA opened in November 2001 as a museum and cultural center dedicated to wine and its relationship to food and culture. The museum never managed to turn a profit (it opened right around 9/11 when the economy was doing poorly) and within seven years, it was shut. While the gardens were brought back in 2010 by independent chefs, by 2012, what remained of the museum's collection was auctioned off, as the vast cookbook collection and Julia Child's cookware were already moved.
