Nandigram Upazila (Bogra district) with an area of 265.47 sq km, is bounded by Bogra sadar and Kahaloo upazilas on the north, Singra upazila on the south, Sherpur (Bogra) upazila on the east, Adamdighi, Raninagar and Singra upazilas on the west. Main rivers are Nagar and Bhadrabati.

Nandigram town is located at 24.6468638N 89.2534917E. Nandigram (Town) consists of one mouza. It has an area of 2.36 sq km. The town has a population of 4014; male 55.75%, female 44.25%; density of population is 1701 per sq km. Literacy rate among the town people is 50.6%. The town has one dakbungalow.

Nandigram thana was established in 1932 and was turned into an upazila in 1983. The upazila consists of five union parishads, 204 mouzas and 241 villages.

Religious institutions: Mosque 303, temple 26, most noted of which are Omarpurhat Jami Mosque, Aliapukur Jami Mosque, Ronbagha Jami Mosque, Chan Mokamtala Jami Mosque.

As of the 1991 Bangladesh census, Population 147557; male 50.8%, female 49.2%; Muslim 85.99%, Hindu 13.69%, others 0.32%; some Santal families live in Yusufpur and Dandgram.

Educational institutions: college 1, secondary school 22, junior high school 61, government primary school 27, non-government primary school 5, satellite school 10, low-cost primary school 6. Noted educational institution: Kundarhat High School (1945).
