Formerly active (now decommissioned) Titan missile silo, former Launch Facility 571-7 which was designed c. 1967 by the Ralph M. Parsons Company. It is now almost completely accessible to the public, from the control room, to living quarters, to the missile silo itself. The museum is listed on the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) as the Air Force Facility Missile Site 8 (571-7) Military Reservation. It is also designated as a National Historic Landmark site.

Comments

  • Guided tours of the missle site are available. The tour takes you down approx. 100 ft. into the old control room, and the Titan missle is still intact, of course with the warhead removed. As per an agreement with the Russians, the sliding doors that would open in case of having to fire the missle have been cemented open permanently, so that the Russians can confirm this at anytime with satellite photos. The tour is very interesting, as some of the tour guides themselves at one time served as personnel in the missle sites when they were active.
  • As an Ex-Titan II maintenance tech I can assure you this is a must see. The scale is unbelievable
