ERCA - Essex County Demonstration Farm (Town of Amherstburg, Ontario)

Established in 1996 by the Essex Region Conservation Authority and a range of other public, private and agricultural groups, the Demonstration Farm's goal is to show how farming and nature can co-exist. The project seeks to educated the community about conservation farming and promote sustainable agricultural practices by demonstrating conservation practices, innovative products, techniques and technologies.

The 40 ac. site includes 8 major fields ranging in size from 1.9 ac. to 8 ac. each featuring a different aspect of conservation farming. The 2010 crop year featured Soybean Variety Trials, Soil Amendment & Crop Rotation, Independent Corn and Soybean Adaptability Trials, Integrated Wetland Crop Management and Shelter Belts to reduce erosion.

Self guided walking tours are permitted and a pamphlet is available on site.
