church, listed building / architectural heritage

The Church of the Holy Spirit is the most famous church in Heidelberg. It was first mentioned in a document dated 1239. In 1398, the cornerstone of the current late Gothic church was laid on the site of the eponymous late Roman basilica which was also not the first structure on the site. Thus the current church is the third church building that was built on this place.
