The monument to Aleksei Tolstoy was established in July 1957 in a small park, located opposite the main entrance to the Temple of the Big Ascension, not far from the house where the Aleksei Tolstoy lived.

GI Motovilov was sculptor, and LM Polyakov, the architect.

The writer is shown seated in a chair, in a characteristic pose, with the indispensable pad and pencil.

Aleksei Tolstoy was a popular writer during the Stalin era, but his books are read today with interest, although many of them have become rare.
