A beautiful gorge in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, known by locals as an amazing place to kayak, fly fish, and hike. Wilson creek itself flows off the south slope of the Blue Ridge Mountains and continues through the gorge and eventually dumps into Johnson Creek. The area has a visitors center, well marked trails (for any skill level) rocky beaches for those hot summer days, and some great whitewater for kayakers of any skill level. From Route 321 take Highway 90 (just north of Lenoir) through the town of Colletttsville (you have to take a left in the town, but it is still 90) and take a right on Brown Mtn. Beech Rd. Enjoy!!!
