  • 'Misa' army base is originally a medieval army post of the Tai-Ahom. According to Ahom Buranji King Pratapsimha @ Siuchenpha founded this western most post of the Tai-Ahom kingdom after Kaliabar against the advancing Mughals. This Misa camp was very much active against the Mughals till A.D. 1661, when the Mughal Nabab Mirjumla advanced towards upper Assam without any resistance, who easily took over from the Tai-Ahom in the reign of King Jaydhvajsimha @ Siutamla, A.D. 1648-63. Misa was not only a war fort but also a rest camp of the Tai-Ahom king and for the nobles. The famous "Chamdharagarh" runs close to Misa fort or camp. The Misa war fort is a part of ancient -Pragjyotisha, Kamrup, Dabaka, Dimalang, Kadali, Kopili, Swarnapith etc. The present Misa Army base is of recent origin and established post-independence period.
