A strategic Indian Air Force (IAF) Base of North East India. This was constructed in 1942, during the Second World War.
It was previously the base for MiG-21 Fighter Jets. With the arrival of two squadrons of Sukhoi Su-30 MKI fighter jets in June 2009, Tezpur Air Base became the first in the North-East India and the third in the country to host the Sukhoi Su-30 MKI fighter jets after Pune and Bareilly (U.P).
There is also the Salonibari Civil Airport.
