Primary airport in the country. Occasionally has crosswinds which make landing exciting, but the pilots are experienced with such. Travel facilities are adequate. Immigration and customs take some time, as anywhere, but are not abnormally long.
Departure processing can take some time, so it is best to arrive early. This is especially so during high-traffic holiday periods.
For those travelers going only to Guanacaste, the airport in Liberia may be a better choice as it can save a day or two of driving.
