  • My husband's family once owned the Metropole c.1968 - Mrs. Isobel Watkins and Brigidier Watkins. There is a painting of the Queen in full Coronation robes which was painted in 1953 by Pamela Edwars, daughter of Brigidier Watkins which hung we believe in the Cranmoor Club, We would like to know whether you have any information on this painting. Mrs Watkins was my husband's aunt and apparently the hotel was made into flats around the time of Mrs. Watkins ownership. She was my husband's mother's sister, Isobel Watkins, nee Theobald. We understand that Pamela Edwards has exactly the same painting of the Queen which hangs in the Houses of Parliament in Canada. Mrs. Edwards subsequently lived in Canada. The hotel was sold to Major Glover who acquired the painting. Any helpful information please: brevetor@btinternet.com Thank you. Mr Peter and Mrs. Maureen Brevetor
