Outdoor swimming pool on the White House grounds for the President and First Family's use. Installed circa 1975-76 during the administration of President Ford. A Cabana (pool house) just to the north provides showers, clothing-changing areas, and also hides the pool from West Wing view. For privacy, a small tunnel connects the Cabana to the West Wing so pool-users may reach the site unseen ---and also to avoid disturbing activity in the White House Patio where occasional meetings are staged.
