The ASI has been protecting the 12th century temple but locals alleged that the efforts for clearing the stagnant water from inside the temple became futile. However, the ASI blamed road construction agencies for the water-logging problem. The temple gets submerged just after a few hours of continuous rain and this could pose a grave threat to the temple. Rain water filled the sanctum sanctorum of the temple
