City government building occupied by the Department of City Planning and the Bureau of Building Inspection. The 13-story building was opened in 1908 as the headquarters for Jones & Laughlin Steel Company. Its name honors John P. Robin (1912-2000), the first executive director of the Urban Redevelopment Authority of Pittsburgh and an important contributor to the Renaissance I and II redevelopment projects.
The building went up for sale April 28, 2011 in a bid to stimulate downtown development.
