Urtsun Valley, a major route from Chitral to Afghanistan. It was used by refugees fleeing the Communist Government of Afghanistan and also by Mujahidin ("Freedom Fighters") who were returning from Pakistan to Afghanistan to fight against the Communists. Urtsun leads to a mountain pass so high that the Communists with their Mig Jets and Soviet bombers could not close it.
