The main and largest square in the Historic Center (walled city) of Brasov. Until early 20 century was the main market place.

Square, the historic old German city is still surrounded in places by the original city walls, its buildings recall the region's German heritage. Was built in 1420 and the city hall, the great Hall of the House is in center of the square and houses a history museum open daily except Mondays. The square is surrounded by shops, cafes and restaurants, street vendors, musicians and gypsies used picturesque market brings color and life.
Square Hall is located near the spiral tower of the Black Church. Gothic masterpiece was built in the early 15th century its name from the fire of 1689 that left a black. Church can be visited even now under renovation. Church occasionally hosts classical music concerts. Near the Black Church and Republic Square there is a street parade and an opportunity for shopping. You are here mainly craft stores where they sell handmade objects: painted eggs, wool rugs, carved wooden toys. The best view of Brasov can be admired from the top of Tampa, after a trip by cable car (between 10 and 18 daily except Mondays). To reach the cable car after a walk through Old Town, leaving Street Square and climbing Apollonia Hirscher. The street of Castle Street turn left and right on the street to the end where Romer climbing stairs leading to the station. At the entrance are the ruins of the old city wall. Along the wall can reach Bastion (one corner is the city dating from 1421 to 1436 and houses a museum open to the public occasionally)
