The site of the former Chicago and North Western's Rosehill station. The station was demolished in the 1950's, but the casket elevator remains, bricked up, on the west side of the tracks. The C & NW used to run funeral trains to here, and the elevator was built to make it easier for pallbearers, who would not have to carry caskets up and down the stairs leading to the station.

The station was NOT demolished in the 50's. My father once thought of buying it and turning it into a restaurant, and that was around 1965 or so. He used to have a few pictures of it but they were lost in a house fire. I was born in 1955, and clearly remember riding my bicycle by it and I had to be around 12 years old.
