Opened in 1865 and closed in 1971, the stockyards on this site once fed the nation (Hog Butcher To the World). Made infamous in Upton Sinclair's book The Jungle.

  • And also the site of the Camp Douglass Confederate POW camp from 1861 to 1865.
  • I don't think so. Fort Douglas was East of here a couple of miles along the lakefront.
