A former swing bridge, double level, with the road on the bottom and the railroad on the top. It was built by the Chicago, Rock Island and Pacific railroad, and opened during 1895. Railroad useage of the bridge came to an end when the CRI&P went out of business during the spring of 1980. Automobile traffic continued until 1999, and it is now likely the bridge will be removed for the safety of river traffic.
