8-story Renaissance-revival hotel completed in 1900. It later became the Best Western Ambassador Hotel, and then The Night Hotel in 2005, one of Vikram Chatwal‘s luxury hotels, billed as having a Film Noire/Goth theme.
The entire 4-bay facade (brick over a 2-story rusticated limestone base) is painted black. A dark bronze/black metal entrance canopy with steel-like rivets hangs over the tall, black glossy front door. The pair of wall lanterns flank the doorway, and the end bays are surmounted by splayed keys and a central scrolled keystone with swags and a crowning cartouche. Just above the cartouche are two small projecting balconies with iron railings at the two outer bays of the 2nd floor, which has four round-arched windows. The base is capped by a band course with a foliate pattern.
The upper floors have quoins at the edges, and full surrounds topped by triangular pediments at the 3rd floor. The 4th-6th floors have projecting sills and splayed lintels. The 7th floor has round-arches windows with scrolled keystones, and a band course sets off the top floor, where the windows have keyed surrounds. There is a giant gothic “N” logo banner over the middle two bays that has slowly flashing backlighting, spanning from the 3rd-8th floors. The hotel contains 72 guest rooms. Besides the lobby, the ground floor is occupied by Red Moon sushi bar/lounge.
