Palairos Acropolis

The ancient walled city of Palairos was laid out in a regular grid pattern which filled the interior of the walled space and even went beyond it. The remains of this wall can be seen today, preserved to a height of 10 meters in places.
The acropolis or citadel of ancient Palairos, which was located at the summit of Kekropoula or Kechropoula. This formed a fortified perimeter within the fortified city, and along its northwestern edge. The city flourished during the Hellenistic Period.
Overall, the city is very well preserved, largely because it was eventually abandoned and remained too remote to serve as a quarry for a nearby town.
