This Market place used to be a very busy centre in the past when mode of traffic used to be motorised boats and transportation solely depended on wooden countrycrafts(Kettuvallam).
Poochakkal is very beautiful place in kerala state in india. It is a small island surrounded with backwaters. The place is famous for panchara manal (white sand), karimeen, kallu etc. Thaliyaparambu temple famous for KALAM KARY is here. Poochackal is the most important small town.

In fact, this Block Panchayath can be renamed after POOCHACKAL.
