HAGAN in Big Bend Township was first settled in 1869 in section 3, with N. K. Hagen as first treasurer of the township and postmaster in his home, 1872-81, the postal department misspelling the name. The post office transferred to Swift County, 1881-83, returning to Chippewa County until 1907. The population was 20 at the 1990 Census, but current estimates are between 40 and 50.
