Built in 1910, the Empyreal Building's exterior appears much the same today as it did when it served as a lumber yard from the 1920s to the 1950s. Originally the property of H.L. Martin, it was purchased by Charles H. Wentz in 1926, who ran the C.H. Wentz Lumber Company. Occupied by a variety of businesses in the 1960s, 70s and 80s, the building underwent sympathetic exterior renovation in the early 1990s after it was purchased by Lyle Lamb. The Empyreal Building is now home to Brainsport, a shoe/running gear store, and Duck Duck Goose, a tapas bar.
