The north section of Broadway Avenue is the main street of the original 1880s settlement of Nutana. The area went into decline by the 1950s, but underwent a revival in the 1990s. It is now home to many of the city's trendiest bars, restaurants, independent shops and theatres. Street festivals, including the Saskatoon Fringe Festival, support a thriving arts community. It remains the central focus of Nutana, now one of Saskatoon's most desirable older neighbourhoods.
