This is the Urbandale Public Library, a beacon of knowledge, learning, excitement, and adventure! This library is blessed by a well-funded community and boasts a sizable collection of 143,579 volumes. With a Urbandale Public Library Card, you can rent out books, audiobooks, ebooks, DVD movies, Blu-ray movies, graphic novels (including manga and comic books), Puppets, Cake Pans, and video games (including titles playable on the Nintendo Switch, Wii U, Wii, Xbox 360, Xbox One, Playstation 3 and Playstation 4). The Urbandale Public Library also routinely organizes events for the enjoyment of children and adults from the local community. These events include book clubs, summer reading challenges, movie showings, and story reading events. The library also routinely secures additional funding through book sales. The building itself features a small cafe room, study tables, restrooms for both men and women, a well- furnished reading room, several separate quiet study rooms, meeting rooms, and many rows of shelves to store their vast collection of volumes. There are restrooms for both men and women, and a water fountain to retrieve fresh potable tap water. This library operates separately from the Des Moines Public Library system, so items borrowed from this library must be returned to the same location.
