This temples was started construction during the 9th century AD.Chola period.Faces east.This temple's building activities continued to the Vijayanagara age.
There is a small hillock in the north east of the village. Between two a split area of this hillock there are sign of megalithic period settlement. Before this in the hillock cave there is an inscription of Athiyaman in Tamil.West of this hillock in a small stone boulder an inscription of Kannaradeva found along with a relief work of Jyestha. South of this inscription a lake for irrigation was constructed. In the middle of it a stone mortar with inscription is lying - by M.GANDHI,CURATOR RTD., DEPARTMENT OF MUSEUMS,VELLORE.
