Karl Bushby in his travel book "Giant Steps" describes the Huara cemetery as "a scene from a horror film... it's full of half-exposed corpses that are making their way out of the sand. This is how they will be left; no one will bother to rebury them. And what makes it worse as that the heat and sand has, to some extent, preserved them. They look like pieces of dried fruit."
