Town site founded by Senate decree on May 14, 1830. Construction began that summer. People were hired from nearby villages of Goriachiia Voda and Georgievsk, given government jobs (post office, schools), rooms in private homes, and a 5-year tax exemption bonus. The quarter is bound by Kirova avenue on the south, Dzerzhinsky street on the east, and October street on the north.
