The Museum Ukraina makes its home in the original St. George’s Parish Hall. The building was officially opened on March 28, 1920 and provided a centre for the educational and cultural events that are so important to the Ukrainian Catholic community. When you walk the floor looking at the artifacts the museum preserves, you are walking the original maple hardwood, underpadded with horsehair, which "gave" to the rhythm of many a kolymayka.
A new $4 million dollar museum is planned, as the current building does not have sufficient space to house all the items the public wishes to donate. The provincial government has promised $534,625 of funding from its Building Communities Program.
