The Woodruff Cotton Mills formed in 1898 related to the Abbeville Mills and finished the Woodruff Cotton Mill in 1901. By 1910 the mill doubled in size and in 1928 joined with Brandon and Poinsett Mills in Greenville to create the Brandon Corporation. Adney Mills bought the mill in 1946 and Mount Vernon owned the mill till it closed in 1995. A great fire destoryed the mill on March 26, 2001.
