The Beaumont Manufacturing Company opened the original Beaumont Mill in 1890. Later Spartan Mills aquired the Beaumont Mills around WWII producing clothes for the war. In the years 1959-1963 the mill was involved in the Sherbert v. Verner case and the mills gained national attention. Beaumont Mill closed in 1999 and Mills No. 1 & 2 were renovated in 2004. Mill No. 3 was demolished along with the various warehouse on the site.
