A small community on Hughesville Road (VA-725), which today is scattered and fading.
This area was first settled by Hugheses in 1700s. The white Quakers in the area had long been tolerant towards blacks. An old school for whites was purchased in 1897 to be used for black children. Daniel White took over the Hughesville Store in 1905 as the only black store owner in the area to serve whites. The store closed in 1935.
