abandoned / shut down, cotton spinning mill
The Bivingsville Cotton Manufacturing Company opened a cotton mill around 1835 in Crawfordsville (later Fairmont). The mill was damaged in the flood of 1903 and rebuilt. The mill produced hula-hoops after 1958. In 1962 the Lyman Printing and Finishing Company used the mill as a warehouse until it was destroyed by fire in 1977. Today, the stone dam remains and the building rubble remains.
